
Friends of Krytyka, Inc. was created to support the work of Krytyka, Ukraine’s premier intellectual and cultural journal and publishing house as well as a not-for-profit research Institute and leading advocate for Ukraine’s democratization and reform.
While based in Kyiv, Ukraine, and largely supported from the US, Krytyka has provided for 25 years a multicultural model of civilized discourse in the humanities and in social and political life.This was achieved largely through an extensive network of scholars, critics and writers throughout the world that helped Ukraine advance its democratization and integration with the West.
Since the early 2000s, Krytyka has published some 200 books in the area of history, literature, cultural and translation studies, political science and anthropology, and other academic disciplines, many of them jointly with the Ukrainian Research Institute at Harvard University (HURI), the Shevchenko Scientific Society in the US, and the Ukrainian Free Academy of Arts and Sciences in the US.
In the past, Krytyka’s work has been supported by such prominent international organizations as the National Endowment for Democracy, the International Renaissance Foundation, European Cultural Foundation, Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung, Robert Bosch Stiftung, Anne Frank Stiftung, Fund for Central and East European Book Projects, The MATRA Programme Ukraine, The Lucius N.
